Business Visas

The law firm of Deborah L. Karapetian assists individuals and businesses with securing Business Visas for their employees. While we are located in the Glendale area, we serve clients throughout the United States, the Philippines, and other foreign countries.

We assist employees and businesses with the following employment visas:

B-1 Visitor for Business Purposes
The B-1 visa permits a foreign national to enter the United States temporarily to conduct business, including attending conventions, conferences, consultations, negotiations, and meetings.

H Categories
The H visas permit United States employers to employ foreign nationals temporarily in the United States. The H visa categories encompass professional workers (H-1B Specialty Occupations), temporary workers in shortage occupations (H-2A Agricultural Workers and H-2B Nonagricultural Workers), nurses possessing B.S.N./bachelors degrees (H-1B) or working in medically underserved areas (H-1Cs), and trainees (H-3).
H-1B workers must possess a four-year university or college degree or its equivalent, and be employed in an area requiring such degree or level of experience.

J-1 Exchange Visitor
The J visa permits an "exchange visitor" to enter the United States temporarily to participate in a designated program for the purpose of teaching, instructing or lecturing, studying, observing, conducting research, or consulting. Exchange visitors include post-secondary students, post-secondary summer work travel students, secondary students, short-term scholars, trainees, teachers, professors and research scholars, specialists, alien physicians, international visitors, government visitors, camp counselors, and au pairs.

L Intra-Company Transferee
The L visa permits multinational companies to temporarily transfer high-level and essential employees from overseas to provide services in a similar capacity to a related entity in the United States, so long as the foreign company has previously employed them for at least one of the preceding three years.

O-1 Extraordinary Ability or Achievement
The O visa permits a foreign national who possesses either extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics or extraordinary achievement in motion picture or television productions to temporarily enter the United States to continue work in the applicable field.

P-1 Athletes/Artists/Entertainers
The P visa permits a foreign national who is either an internationally known athlete or an internationally recognized entertainment group to temporarily enter the United States to perform in the applicable field.

TN Visitor for Business Purposes
The TN visa permits citizens of Canada and Mexico to enter the United States under the North American Free Trade Agreement for up to a period of one year to work for a United States business entity in a professional capacity. Only certain occupations qualify: see the following link http://travel.state.gov/tn_visas.html.
